The CREST Awards scheme motivates young people to explore science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects with thought-provoking, real-world challenges.

Silver CREST Awards are designed to stretch students and enrich their STEM studies. Students develop their own project idea and gain in-depth experience of the scientific method or engineering design process.

The UKESF has developed two Silver CREST Awards for 14-18 year olds:

  • MICROCONTROLLERS AND SENSORS FOR INNOVATION
  • AI WITH ETHICS

Follow the links below for the guides and resource information for each award.

Silver Award fees (payable to CREST):

  • UK – £10 (Wales – free)
  • International – £20

If your school is interested in running one or both of the awards, the first step is to sign up with CREST.

If you have any questions about the UKESF CREST Awards please send a message to [email protected]

MICROCONTROLLERS AND SENSORS FOR INNOVATION

During this project you will be exploring microcontrollers and hardware sensors, learning how to program them and then go onto applying this to your project with your own application.

AI WITH ETHICS

During this project you will learn all about AI. You will research into the current applications. In addition, you will research ethics and data bias.
