What appeals to me about Electronics

I have always been interested in technology, so for me electronics is fascinating because it’s the clever bits which go on behind the scenes to make things work from the smallest chip to an aeroplane. I am a creative person and so the huge range of possibilities for design and innovation excite me, and I am constantly amazed by the things going on today in the industry. I also like maths and so the theory behind the electronics that I have studied is something that drew me to it as well.

My experience working for BAE Systems

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence stood out to me as I would have the opportunity to work in electronic hardware engineering within a large organisation. This meant that I would be exposed to a huge range of projects and technology and could get an insight into lots of parts of the industry. Furthermore, the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology was exciting, and I was keen to work on projects which help keep our country safer.

My placement

I really enjoyed my time working in Digital Intelligence. I had the opportunity to experiment with new technology and get some hands-on hardware design experience. My work directly fed into ongoing projects so I felt that my contribution was really valuable, and it helped me to refine my R&D skills. I was also able to participate in C++ training which will be useful to me in the future, and had the opportunity to explore a range of areas within the business. The company had a lovely, supportive atmosphere and I couldn’t recommend them more!
