What inspires me about electronics?
I’m passionate about electronics because it’s used everywhere and, in this day and age, it’s inescapable. It’s a fast-moving, dynamic sector, and the UK government has recognised the importance of chip design and is actively investing in it, so there’s a real long-term future in the field.
Why GF Micro?
GF Micro is small enough that placement students get to work on live projects. I’ve been designing and verifying blocks, seeing how the whole flow fits together and understanding the bigger picture. That kind of learning opportunity is hard to find elsewhere because getting stuck into real projects is where you learn the most.

CSA Catapult
"Learning industry-standard RF & Microwave EDA tools, developing both technical skills and soft skills, access to cutting-edge laboratory equipment and being able to learn from the wealth of extremely talented engineers at CSA Catapult has been a great benefit to me both professionally and personally."
Tara
Arm
"I've been learning more about chip design, the flow of SoC development and how different blocks fit together. I've also started building my verification skills, from writing tests and analysing waveforms to understanding issues in more detail and working out how to solve them."

Viper Innovations
"Working closely with my line manager, I had helped to create an initial framework for an improvement to one of Viper’s products, using Azure IoT Edge, Python, Raspberry Pi HATs (Hardware Attached on Top) and communication methods"
