Job Title: Electrical/Electronics Engineer

School to uni / From school to university

I always preferred & had an aptitude for technical and science-based subjects – namely maths and physics. Additionally, I have always had an interest in technology; and naturally this led me into discovering Electrical & Electronics courses while searching for universities – and it was definitely the correct decision for me. It combines technology, technical challenges and problem solving – there is also a wide variety of fields (and hence jobs) that are available through studying these courses, e.g. semiconductors, circuit design, embedded software, electrical power distribution, and power electronics to name a handful.

Why I chose Viper innovations

During my placement search I discovered Viper Innovations through the UKESF Scholarship Scheme. When researching Viper, I was very intrigued about how their technologies can fault-find and monitor the integrity of electrical cable systems. During the interview, I had the opportunity to ask what work I would be doing during the placement – and discovered that I would have the opportunity to experience and contribute to different areas of the business to develop my skills as an engineer.

My experience at Viper Innovations

I had a very positive Year In Industry experience, which encouraged me to join Viper as a Graduate. Viper provided a lot of support during both my Year In Industry and during my final year studies. Joining Viper as a Graduate has allowed me to further develop my skills in a familiar environment as there is much less of a learning/training period; and this has enabled me to develop professionally by working on business-relevant projects. Viper also provide support for CPD which is a key personal goal of mine, and other personal development opportunities such as volunteering and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

During my free time

I have recently taken up indoor bouldering as a hobby – which has a been a very fun and challenging (and definitely humbling) activity. In addition to this I enjoy going for walks, PC gaming, the occasional camping trip and I have definitely watched too much Grey’s Anatomy!
