“Teachers’ dedication and passion are the catalysts that ignite students' interest in electronics.”

Stewart Edmondson, CEO, UKESF

Teachers play a vital role in shaping young minds and inspiring future engineers.

Research consistently shows that a passionate, knowledgeable educator is one of the most influential factors in a young person’s decision to pursue STEM subjects.

As we mark the 15th anniversary of the UKESF, we want to celebrate teachers who are nurturing the next generation of Electronics Engineers.

The UKESF Award for Inspirational Electronics Educators, Sponsored by Synopsys will recognise a teacher that has made an outstanding contribution to Electronics education, and has a creative idea to further inspire the next generation.

The Award Winner will receive:

  • £500 personal reward
  • £1,000 grant to further Electronics education in their school
  • An invitation to the TechWorks Awards in London on Wednesday 3 December (plus travel and accommodation costs)

With thanks to Synopsys

How applications will be assessed

Each application will be assessed on two areas:

  1. How have you positively impacted your students in the last 12 months through your contribution to Electronics education in your school?’  (weighting: 70%)
  2. How will you use the £1,000 grant for your school to support Electronics education in the forthcoming 12 months? (weighting: 30%)

Award entries must be in-line with the UKESF’s mission to encourage more young people to study Electronics and pursue careers in the sector. Your entry should align with at least one of the following areas:

  1. Engaging a wide range of students
  2. Showcasing local industry and careers opportunities
  3. Breaking down barriers for those from underrepresented groups in Electronics
  4. Creative approaches to teaching Electronics in the curriculum
  5. Engaging students in extracurricular Electronics activities

Please note that we do not expect entries to cover all of these areas. If you have any questions about whether your activities meet the criteria, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

Your application will be assessed by considering the impact of your teaching or activity on your students and the potential for positive impact of your planned support for Electronics education, should you be awarded the grant.
