What appeals to you about Electronics?

My first experience with electronics was an Arduino kit that I got for Christmas when I was about 14. I liked the mixture of hardware, software and the satisfaction of getting even simple things to work. I also enjoy Maths, Physics and Computer Science, and Electronics is a good combination of all three. As well as this, Electronics involves being creative and solving problems. Finally, with all the technology currently available I would like to be able to understand how some of it works and appreciate the ingenuity of the engineers who have designed and manufactured it.

Why did you want a scholarship with Sensata Technologies?

I had previously done work experience at Sensata, so I knew I would like to work there again because of how friendly and helpful everyone was. They are a leader in their field, so it would be a good opportunity to learn about their products and how they are made.

What type of work have you been involved with during your placement?

During my placement I developed some software in LabVIEW to automate tests on the tyre pressure sensors for the purposes of failure analysis. This was an interesting project where I got to learn a new programming language and use it to control hardware that I previously hadn’t heard of. I also learnt about the construction of modern sensors and methods for analysing failures in the lab.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy playing sport; I played ice hockey for a long time and currently play roller hockey and badminton. As well as this I like going to the gym.
