Who we are and what we do
RS Components is a FTSE 250 distributor of Electronics components; electrical, automation and control products; test and measurement equipment; and engineering tools. We operate in 32 countries around the world with over 60% of business now delivered online. Through Design Spark we provide free-to-use design services and tools.
Design Spark is an online engineering community, which can be accessed here. It provides free software design tools and a host of other development resources to students, developers and makers, enabling the quick development and prototyping of project ideas and product concepts.
This is the first Eagle Lab and is the IoT Centre of Excellence. Eagle Labs is an exciting initiative and mirrors the ethos of RS, which is all about supporting innovation and bringing great ideas to life, with digital fabrication tools, a LoRaWAN SigFox base station, education workshops, rapid prototyping facilities and a vibrant community.
What you could be doing during your work placement
- Developing new education and STEM hardware tools (for use with BBC Micro:Bit and Raspberry Pi).
- Technical Content Development for the Design Sparkcommunity, to support our 650,000 design engineers, makers and students sharing and collaborating with their projects on the community site.
- Software Development of new design capabilities.
