What appeals to me about Electronics

I have always been interested in the cultural shifts which are consequences of innovation. A degree in Electronics relates to my curiosity and urge to analyse how technology impacts the values of our society and alters it’s evolving needs. I believe that technology has the potential of solving any existing global problems and improve people’s lives.

Why I chose Beko

The goal of Beko R&D is to bring efficiency and functionality into the daily lives of people through innovation. I always wanted to be able to contribute to areas such as smart appliances, connected technologies and sustainability. I find R&D to be quite exciting since it is related to creating new products or making improvements to existing technology. Research can provide powerful insights and thus increase efficiency and lower the cost.

My placement and its value

During my summer placement, I was mainly involved in research aiming at creating low-cost solutions for gesture recognition and predictive maintenance. I gained hands on experience in testing various types of sensors and developing machine learning models. By working in research and development I had the opportunity to contribute to real industry problems alongside other members of the team and also gained awareness of the importance of intellectual property. I had specific tasks assigned but also I had freedom allowing me to develop my creativity.

My interests

Outside of work I enjoy swimming, jogging, martial arts, travelling and reading. I have joined university societies that offer these sports and I like spending time on personal projects. Living in Cambridge has allowed me to make new friends from different engineering backgrounds, and explore other activities such as bouldering.
