UKESF wins Education and Training Award

The UK Electronics Skills Foundation has won the Education and Training Award at the annual e-Legacy Awards. The award recognised UKESF’s initiatives to combat the threat of diminishing skills in the UK electronics sector, and was presented at an awards luncheon held at the prestigious Kensington Roof Gardens, London.

 

 

 

Indro Mukerjee, Chairman of the UKESF Strategic Advisory Board and CEO of Plastic Logic, said, “We’re delighted to have received industry recognition for the work we are doing to ensure the ongoing success of the electronics sector in the UK. The sector makes an important contribution to the overall economy and UKESF is committed to ensuring the sector continues to achieve its growth potential as the UK continues along the road to recovery.”

UKESF was founded in 2010 by Semta, NMI, The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and industry partners. The organisation brings together the public and private sectors with leading universities and aims to provide 160 new industry-funded undergraduate scholarships each year, with 10 UKESF partner universities and 100 sponsor companies participating by 2014.

Now in their fifth year, the e-Legacy Awards have become synonymous with Corporate Social Responsibility and reflect an ethos of contributing to the common good, either through aspects of an organisation’s operations or products. Award winners are selected via a public on-line vote, with finalists in 8 categories selected by a judging panel of representatives from award sponsors, industry experts and Electronic Product Design magazine’s editorial team.
