Scholar Workshop 2016
The UKESF Scholar Workshop 2016 took place from 5th to 8th September, with more than 50 UKESF scholars travelling to the University of York to take part in the residential event.
The workshop programme featured a range of professional development sessions delivered by some well-regarded consultants from Commsmasters, The IET and outstanding executive coaches. These sessions included: project management, goal setting, lean thinking and effective communication, as well as panel discussions and work-based group projects. Scholars also had the chance to network with industry professionals and enjoyed a formal dinner to celebrate their hard work.
More than half of the workshop attendees rated their overall experience as being ‘excellent’, the highest possible score, on their evaluation forms.
Scholar Simon Perretta, who studies at Imperial College London and is sponsored by ARM, said, “I just wanted to say thank you for organising such an incredibly useful workshop. Not only have I learnt a lot more than I imagined I would, but after hearing about how steep the decline in interest in Electronics is from the younger generation, I have been inspired to try and make a difference myself. Thank you for organising an amazing week at York!”
