Aston University joins the UKESF
Aston University is the 20th leading academic institution to partner with the UK Electronics Skills Foundation, joining 19 other universities working with the UKESF and meaning that, as the scholarship programme expands, industry sponsors will be able to connect with even more high quality students.
“Aston University are delighted to join UKESF since we wholeheartedly support its core aims and values. We believe that to meet the demand for electronic engineers we have to both increase the numbers of students coming onto relevant degree programmes and keep students within the sector once they graduate. Our schools outreach programme has resulted in both increased student numbers and an increase in the proportion of female students. Last year over 60% of eligible students from Electronics at Aston were successful in securing a placement year, giving students the relevant work experience and confidence to remain within the sector after graduation.”
“Aston is a really vibrant university, which has significantly grown the number of undergraduates – particularly females – studying Electronic Engineering in recent years. They undertake an impressive range of outreach activities promoting Electronics and they will be a great addition to the UKESF. I’m looking forward to collaborating with them.”
