Announcing the UKESF Award for Female Undergraduates

The UKESF is working hard to encourage more young women to study Electronics at university. This is part of our wider initiative to address the gender imbalance in Electronics and our strategy to tackle the overall skills shortage in the sector. We will therefore now be awarding £1,000 exclusively to first-year female undergraduates who attend the annual UKESF-Headstart Summer School.

The Summer School is delivered by the UKESF in partnership with Headstart EDT, with the support of the host university and sponsoring companies. Open to Year 12/S5 students who are taking STEM-related subjects at Sixth Form or College, this residential course provides an opportunity to experience university life and learn about the degrees and careers available in Electronics, with hands-on sessions, lectures from leading academics and networking with industry speakers.

Female UK/EU attendees will be eligible for the new £1,000 award if they subsequently accept a place to study an Electronics-related subject at one of the 18 UKESF partner universities. For full details, see the UKESF Award for Female Undergraduates flyer.

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2017 – simply email [email protected] with your contact details, name/date of Headstart course attended, and name of university and degree programme.

The UKESF-Headstart Summer School for 2016 takes place at the University of York next week, from 17th to 21st July.
