The UKESF’s 10th Anniversary: Creation of the Foundation – Darren Race Interview
Darren Race, Trustee & Director, Leader Facilitator at Scholar Workshop
The Workshop is an important part of the Scholarship Programme. You were involved in the very first Scholars’ Workshop in 2011. Could you share your role in helping to shape the Workshop, and explain how it is useful to the Scholars?
“I have been involved with the UKESF from its formation back in 2010. The key differentiator for me is how the programme was designed, driven and aligned with the demand/requirements of employers, i.e. industry led; something which is unique. This is further demonstrated by the level of industry engagement and investment throughout the programme.
“The most rewarding aspect for me personally, is my involvement in the Scholars’ Workshop, where we have up to 60 scholars attend a summer workshop hosted at one of the many partner universities. The content of the workshop is not conventional, and covers broader personal development including personality profiling, negotiation skills, leadership, effective communication, unconscious bias, cyber security, lean techniques and so much more.
“It’s a real pleasure, in fact humbling, to meet and work with the UKESF Scholars and experience first-hand the brightest talent we have to offer.”
